Reminds me... my father wrote an excellent book about life as a spy in the Army (honestly !), back in the good old days before they made you fight wars and things. Absolutely hysterical, each chapter an episode, long before anyone thought up Robson and Jerome.

He tried a couple of publishers who said it had too narrow an audience and gave up. A big shame... however, those little text scanners are now about 5.99 in Woolies and the manuscript, typed on a manual typewriter could easily be webified with a few afternoons' work.

When it's #1 on the WHSmiths bestsellers' list, some humourless git at Bloomsbury will throw himself out of a window.

Which is more than he deserves.
