The baby mole

OK, so I had a baby mole running around the house all day yesterday. Have no idea how he got in, and the cats (first fearing that Po would pounce on him) just followed him round and looked at him with curiosty and slight wariness. The mole even went underneath Pippin's legs at one point and Pip jumped out of the way!

He must be here somewhere, I'll have to find a way to get him outside at some point (without touching him). You can usually hear him on the laminate flooring with his little digging paws. I hope he's OK.

Make sure you pop him into next door's garden - unless of course you're encouraging mole-hills.

  Well, we did have molehills very briefly last year, but they went away as quickly as they came. Wouldn't dare put him next door - their garden is so pristine!! Maybe in the field over the road methinks.

Cute little things, aren't they? Never had one indoors before. The field over the road, by the way, better not be mine! James.

  He is quite cute - no idea how he got in, the cats obviously didn't bring him in. I'm sure the farmer won't mind - field is just for grazing a few sheep and a couple of llamas! (got to find the critter first and find a way of catching him!).

Goodness.. There's an unusual turn of events. I've seen moles outside, but never indoors before.

There would be no way that I could be sleeping in the house with a mole running about *wimp* It's surprising how the cats are not motivated to get him. We had a mouse in our house many years ago. At that time we had 5 cats and not one of 'em could be arsed to catch the mouse. The dog did!

  I must admit, I did have a bit of a moment when he scurried in the bedroom (we live in a bungalow), but he soon scurried out again once he realised he couldn't get out that way.

One of the cats probably brought him in, and then decided he wasn't tasty enough to eat, just to watch.

  I don't think they did judgding by the genuine surprise on their faces and their reaction. I think he may have sneaked in through the garage door.

  He was probably quite scared but didn't seem too perturbed by the cats. He just wanted to find a way to sneak to the outdoors again! I haven't seen him today, so hopefully he manged to get out. If we see him again, a small towel and he's in the field across the road. Don't worry.

Wow, a mole indoors! I have sadly never seen a mole alive, just dead ones, let alone one indoors. I suspect it will be missing food from the soil.

I realise the posting is from a month ago. What happened to him?

  Well, he wondered all around the house along the walls to find a way out (unmolested but warily observed by the cats) sniffing his way with his little nose (going into the bedroom at one point which irked me somewhat, but he came out again). He shuffled off behind a sofa for a while and the next day he was gone. I hope he managed to find his way out OK, the same way he got in (the cats certainly didn't bring him in) and he certainly hasn't died in the house (believe me, we are used to dead things in the house as Po is a hunter).
  
  I just wish I wasn't too squeamish about handling him otherwise I would have helped him on his way.
